About the event
learn to knit hats in two 1.5-hour sessions.
the first session will review the pattern, show you how and why to work a swatch in the round, cast on and join in the round, work the ribbed stitch to create the brim, and discuss how to modify the pattern to work different brims.
the second session will show you how to work the crown of the hat using a basic decrease, transition to double-pointed needles, weave in the ends, and wash and dry the hat.
skills required:
casting on.
working the knit stitch.
binding off.
materials needed:
US 7 (4.5 mm) 16 inch circular knitting needles (size down if you are a loose knitter).
US 7 (4.5 mm) double-pointed needles (size down if you are a loose knitter).
about 200 yards of medium weight 4 yarn (light-colored solid yarn is best).
at least 15 stitch markers.
tapestry needle.
before the first session, print the pattern and read through it.
this class will be recorded and the links provided. the videos will be available to review for three weeks after the class.
